Businesses are discovering the distinct advantages that Uintah County can offer. Located in-between Salt Lake City, Utah and Denver, Colorado, Uintah County (Vernal/Naples) is one of the busiest retail hubs in Northeastern Utah, drawing consumers in from a 100 mile radius which includes Utah, Wyoming and Colorado.
 |
Businesses located in Uintah County benefit from abundant natural resource development, educational opportunities, a quality labor force, and vast recreational activities of all kinds ensuring employee satisfaction. |
Entrepreneurship is an important part of the economy in Uintah County. Utah State University is anxiously awaiting the opening of the Bingham Entrepreneurship and Energy Research Center. The mission of the Bingham facility is to be the focal point of business development, technology, innovation and enhancement, research and teaching with an emphasis on Environmental Mitigation, Hybrid Energy Systems, and Unconventional Fuels. The BEERC is a reality because of the generosity of Marc and Debbie Bingham who donated $15 million to Utah State University for the construction of an entrepreneurship and energy research center.
In addition, Uintah Basin Applied Technology Center (UBATC) provides technology education and skilled training in order to encourage individual and employer growth within our community. The close partnership with these two institutions is unprecedented which helps to differentiate Uintah County as a highly desired community to do business.
Uintah County‘s goal is to continue ongoing business recruitment and retention as a top priority to ensure prosperity well into the future.

The geography of Uintah County diverse and includes the high mountain terrain of the Uintah Mountains, the fertile Ashley Valley, a significant portion of Dinosaur National Monument-including the quarry- and the Green River, which bisects the county from the northeast to the southwest and forms the boundary between Carbon County and Uintah County. Fort Duchesne, which was established as a military post by the United States Army in 1886 and operated until 1913, is not the headquarters for the Ute Tribe.
